About the WRNP

The Women’s Regional network on Prevention (WRNP) is a thematic network of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) with the objective of advancing women’s role in raising awareness and building capacity in the prevention of atrocity crimes, including advancing awareness on the gendered aspects of atrocity crimes.

WRNP is hosted by Justice Call and the UN office for Genocide Prevention and Responsibility (UN OSAPG), with support of the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC). WRNP seeks to enhance the work of women-led CSOs in peacemaking processes and the prevention of atrocity crimes in the MENA region.

How do we work?

The group operates in a decentralized manner, depending on networking and engagement at the grassroots level. The member organizations contribute to the collective strengthening of advocacy on WPS and the prevention of atrocity crimes in the MENA region by sharing knowledge, experiences and best practices, and highlighting and tackling issues and risks faced by activists working on the ground.

Our Objectives

The Women’s Regional Network on Prevention (WRNP) aims to promote meaningful participation by women in shaping policies and practices relating to women, peace, and security, and the prevention of atrocity crimes in the MENA region. Specifically, our objectives are:

Promoting the exchange of resources, experiences, and best practices among women-led organizations that work on peacebuilding issues and the prevention of atrocity crimes;
Launching capacity building programs for women-led organizations on the prevention of atrocity crimes, and the women, peace, and security agenda;
Bridging the gap between international organizations, actors and stakeholders, and organizations that work at the grassroots levels in the field of women, peace, and security, and the prevention of atrocity crimes.
